About Us
Jay Shadforth established ILA in 1999 following three years of experience as an Immigration Specialist in the Christchurch legal community. Jay has maintained full membership with the New Zealand Association for Migration and Investment, since the establishment of ILA and, in the first year it was offered, obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in Immigration Law and Practice in New Zealand from Massey University (2000).
Jay Shadforth
As of 25 August 2008, Jay Shadforth secured her full Immigration Adviser licence, recognising her as proficient in all areas of Immigration Law and recognised by law as a Licensed Adviser.
Jay's incentive to establish her own firm came from the desire to provide a professional yet personal service to her clients in appreciation of the importance of their decision not only to immigrate, but to entrust that decision to our care. As a first generation 'kiwi' Jay has an appreciation of what drives people to move country and improve their lives.
Whilst Jay handles all forms of immigration applications, she specialises in s61 applications and immigration appeals.
Whether you are applying for temporary entry, residence, or need more specialist skills in regard to appeals to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal, or even directly to the Minister of Immigration, you need to be sure that the very first information and advice you receive is accurate, up-to-date and reliable. For this reason ILA is happy to provide free assessments so that individuals can get all of the necessary information required without worrying about the cost.
Anyone providing New Zealand Immigration Advice must be licensed according to the Immigration Adviser Licensing Act 2007.
